About Find Any File – Professional Version

A Pro license has to be purchased separately from the regular $6 license. It's not available yet, but will probably cost around 50-60 USD.

With a Pro license, FAF will offer the following extra features:

  • Much faster search times on file servers (NAS, such as WD My Cloud and other Linux and macOS based servers), as long as they allow ssh access.
Where FAF usually takes several minutes to find items on a server, this will now be finished in seconds. (Mainly applies to search for file names and modification dates but not to content search inside documents, yet.).
If you're using a Synology or QNAP NAS, please see setting up search with Synology or setting up search with QNAP.
  • Super fast search on Windows servers if you install the software Everything. FAF then uses Everything's HTTP server to perform searches for file names. Everything setup instructions.

The Pro feature is currently in development and not offered for purchase, yet!

Contact me directly for a temporary Pro license if you like to help testing this.

To learn about other ways to search on network volumes, see Searching on File Servers.

How do tell if you have a Pro license

If you just purchased FAF, here or in the App Store, usually at $6 to $15, you do not have a Pro license.

A Pro license is identified in FAF's About window:

If you do not see "Pro" there, you have a regular license.
